I know, I know. I’ve been MIA from the blog for good long while now. The summer has come and gone & some things have changed for Dream Big. The biggest change is that I decided to quit offering portrait photography services, so that I can devote more time to personal photography projects. Here’s what I posted on FB on July 16th:
Good evening dreamers! Tonight, after much consideration & soul searching, I announce to you, my friends, that I will no longer offer portrait photography services. Those of you who know me or have followed my photography for a while know that my passion is photojournalistic lifestyle photography, and starting today, that will be my focus. With this change, I will be able to focus on more artistically fulfilling sessions & have time for special projects. In the next few months I hope to be able to start offering photography classes for Moms wanting how to take better pics of their kids… stay tuned for the details. Finally, I want to thank those of you who have believed in me and followed my photography since the start of dream big, & I hope that you will continue to follow my journey Dream big!!! -Kathryn
With that said, I hope to have more time to dedicate to being a better blogger I will also start posting any specials/announcements here with more regularity, so stay tuned!!!
The sun is setting on our annual beach vacation & we finally got a sunny day today! Although the weather was non-cooperative, we had lots of fun & will leave with great memories. No one loves a sunset at the beach more than me. Well, except maybe this guy Here’s my July photo challenge over at Rock the Shot @www.rocktheshotforum.com
Sibling fun in the surf. I love this image of this brother and sister playing together! This is my entry into the Rock the Shot Forum’s photo challenge ‘Summer Fun’. Go check out all the other entries at www.rocktheshotforum.com
Every spring these big beautiful wild flowers appear in the trees around my neighborhood & I feel the need to put my kids in front of them & snap some pics. Unfortunately, my daughter had other plans. There’s no shortage of spunk in that girl & she was not havin’ it… at ALL! Oh well, here’s what I got…
Hydrangeas are my favorite flower. They grew on the side of my Grandmother’s house, they were my wedding flowers, & my husband gave me hydrangea plants with the birth of my children. This image of one of my hydrangea plants in full bloom is entered into the www.rocktheshotforum.com March Photo Challenge: Floral Still Life.
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of doing a newborn lifestyle shoot (which I will eventually get around to posting… I promise)! While mommy and baby sis were getting ready for their close-up, big brother was busy entertaining me by showing my his room & a few of his favorite things. Can you even stand how super-cute he is? And such a talented drummer!Of course, it was also very important that I not only see his awesome new remote control car, but we also took it for a test drive! Watch out girls, this little dude is gonna be a heart breaker! Thanks Ty for making me laugh and showing me your super-cool big boy room!!!!

Those first few hours to days in the hospital after giving birth to your baby are a magical blur. The excitement of finally meeting that little baby who’s been growing inside you is indescribable. Once you combine pure hormonal flurry with pain-numbing meds you end up loosing track of time & forgetting the perfect little details of those fleeting & magical moments.
I had the pleasure of documenting this special time for my friend & her family as they welcomed the most perfect little baby girl into the world. Baby Tennyson was only hours old but already had her big brother wrapped around her fingers He was the proudest big brother I’ve ever seen. Capturing these precious moments for my friend was truly a joy & I know she will always treasure these memories.
